The time they have spent here has been a steep learning curve for this company in the fact that they have had to adapt to the different work ethics when dealing with English Heritage, As a company they have listened and adapted very well. Their work has been sympathetic to all original structures whilst being of a very high standard. They have not damaged any of the original structure in any way and as you can see from the pictures the construction/ project has been on quite a large scale. I have been at the Castle for 18 years from a young mason through to my current position of Keeper of Grounds and Building. The Original Decking Company Limited Our company appointed The Original Decking Company Limited to assist our organisation with the construction of a high quality timber decking for our client who own a 2 star listed mill in Radlett Nr St Albans Hertfordshire known as Moor Mill that dates back to the year 800. Although the mill is no longer in use for milling floor it is now used as restaurant the project consisted of a major overhaul of the existing mill to make the wheels as the operational feature of the restaurant together with the construction of a new 85sq/m raised seated timber decking over looking the mill head and weir. The work has been completed to an exceptionally high quality and to a practical design agreed by both parties. Gail and Anton Stubbs Meir Heath 25 June 2008     MR & MRS WOOD, STOKE-ON-TRENT JUNE 2008 My wife & I decided we were not making the best of our property and wanted to combine a more outdoor life in the summer with a reduction on the maintenance in the garden. I had absolutely no experience of any companies that specialised in this area and totally at random, invited 3 local specialists to quote. The approach of the Original Decking person was to offer a really high quality of finish with the others targeting a more mass market with a particular approach but using lower quality materials. I am sure that this would produce an adequate basic result, but we were looking for something a bit more special. I have to say that it was just sheer luck that we chose The Original Decking Company Ltd because it is something of an act of faith, when you choose any contractor to work on your property. It soon became evident that we had made the right decision. We have a house that is set on the side of a rather steep hill, with wonderful views but with a garden that was difficult to access. We now have tiers of level decking beautifully finished and lit and has transformed the use that we make of our house. We have since been approached by passers by whilst I am in the garden, who want to know who did the work as they greatly admire the result, as we do. My only argument with the company is with the name - which seems to me to underplay their amazing range of skills and capabilities that they have demonstrated during the work on our project. A word of warning - allow at least £5 per week for coffee and chocolate digestive biscuits, as this seems to be the fuel that they work on!     MR BOB BAYLEY, LONDON, 4TH NOVEMBER 2008 Dear Craig This is just a quick note to say thanks for the excellent installation of the decking at our newly built house. I was particularly impressed with the obvious experience and ability of a true team of workmen. They knew exactly what they had to do and worked together efficiently and cheerfully. They were so fast yet the result was perfect. I had to admire your use of the latest in equipment that ensured a very accurate and clean job. Thanks also for your creative recommendation on the water feature element of the decking. Aligning the decking in a pattern has worked much better than just a straight line solution. The deck has provided the finishing touch to our ultra modern house and lives well with the other 21st Century features. The quality of the build is superb. We were very impressed that you could take onboard some of our ideas, and suggest low maintainance materials, to produce the decking of our dreams. Thank you once again. Linda and Mick Roberson     MANY THANKS! We had a very water logged lawn surrounded by conifers and shrubs and the bottom of section of the garden did not get much sun. After having French doors installed onto the garden, which left a drop of approx 2 feet, we contacted The Original Decking Co. to ask about replacing half of the garden with decking and take out the grass and replace with decorative gravel instead. The lady who took our initial call was friendly and very helpful, listening to our requirements and arranged a meeting with Craig, who came & carried out a site survey, came up with a design incorporating our own ideas etc and throughout the whole process of design & pricing consulted us at every stage so we felt very much a part of our own project. We chose Ipe hardwood, in smooth finish profile, with a low seated handrail at the bottom, with a small step down onto the newly gravelled section. We also had 3 large Ipe & Balau planters made to sit on one side of the decking, which now house large palms and bamboos, we also had amber deck lights on the decking, white ones shining across the gravel and a couple of spike lights highlighting some of the trees & shrubs in the garden. The lads were great to have around, polite and friendly, kept everywhere as clean & tidy as possible during the whole project build. Thank you for giving us our room outdoors, it looks fantastic! We would have no problem at all recommending you to others thinking of having a deck designed & installed by yourselves and are already spreading the word! Once again thank you very much. Mr Mrs C. I have always considered the garden as another room to be used by the family, but even the dog was complaining it was like a mud bath.
